Ethical Care for Serving Those Living with Dementia

Explore the ethical complexities and dynamics of advanced dementia care. The ethical dilemmas at mid-late stage are especially challenging for professionals who provide palliative and hospice care. A framework for ethical decision- making will be introduced that facilitates quality care for older adults with advanced dementia. This program is designed to be interactive as participants share challenging ethical issues encountered while providing services in a variety of settings. Ethical decision-making processes will be addressed in a variety of contexts using case examples and best practice models to identify and address complicated scenarios in work with patients/clients affected by dementia. The NASW Code of Ethics will be utilized throughout this workshop as a guide in the ethical decision-making process.
